Our first Converse Red Light Session took place late 2012 in the tiny red space next to the Red Light Radio studio, numerous international and local bands have performed intimate sessions to a small audience (and those peering through the window) in the middle of the Red Light District.
We have also travelled outside the studio as far as Austin Texas as part of the SXSW Converse FADER Fort, the Converse Rubber Tracks recording studio in New York during CMJ and also a few super special places here in Amsterdam.

Ray Fuego blew us away with his intense energy, sick beats, & killer Dutch rhymes during his December Converse Red Light Session. SMIB homie GRGY joined him on stage.
Bear Bones, Lay Low
Bear Bones, Lay Low is the power drone project of Brussels-based Venezuelan Ernesto Gonzalez. He builds an energetic wall of sound with guitar fuzz, vocals, tapes and a bunch of effects.
The perfect mix of Terakaft’s deep bass tones, pulsating heartbeat of percussion, and two rhythm guitars—one keeping the beat effortlessly, the other soaring and sweet—transported this Converse Red Light Session to the deepest heart of the desert.
The Soft Moon
The Soft Moon’s ‘Wrong’ is dark and throbbing; one long, static bassline punctuated by punchy, electronic drum beats that are supported by the wooden racket of Luis Vasquez’s sticks and macabre, modified vocals.
Yokocola are a loud & eclectic cast of characters who deliver classic psychedelic rock that ranges from forceful and aggressive to spaced-out and trippy.
Blue Crime are a white hot Amsterdam four-piece that mix shoegaze guitars with lovely harmonies, luring in listeners with siren songs that shake gently with intensity.
Chelsea Wolfe descended upon Amsterdam and bewitched the audience with vocals. Haunting elements of drone, metal, and folk swirled together, making Amsterdam’s first Converse Rubber Tracks Live event unforgettably atmospheric.
Despite Raderkraft’s German lyrics, sole member Willem Stinissen is 100% Dutch. His love of synthesizers, specifically the arpeggiator, combined with his interest in minimal wave’s simplicity and DIY spirit, make Radarkraft’s electro-synth music hard to forget.
Afterpartees were an explosion of teen angst and bleeding hearts during their recent Converse Red Light Session, borrowing from the best of 70’s punk and bubblegum power-pop.
Useless Eaters’ recent Converse Red Light Session in an Amsterdam church dungeon was an energetic lightning storm of psycho vocals, terse, ripping guitar riffs, rubbery bass, and 80’s-inspired angular rhythms.
Bea1991’s Converse Red Light Session at Amsterdam’s Kapitein Zeppos was an intoxicating combination of trip-hop beats, lush, hushed vocals and futuristic synth samples.
We spaced out to Dream Koala’s otherworldly layers of looped guitar and hypnotic, electronic samples during his Converse Red Light Session at Amsterdam’s Kapitein Zeppos.
Electro-kraut duo zZz unleashed a brutal set of dark and danceable organ rock ‘n roll for their Converse Red Light Session at Amsterdam’s Noorderlicht.
Blending reverb-soaked shoegaze with minimalist electronic production, the KVB swept us away with their industrially-tinged take on post-punk pop during their recent Converse Red Light Session.
J Mascis was transfixing during his Converse Red Light Session at Amsterdam’s Butcher’s Tears, impressively looping and shredding his delicate, fuzzy melodies.
Multicultural collective Fumaça Preta sizzled during their Converse Red Light Session at Amsterdam’s Pacific Place, lighting fires with their unique blend of tropicalia-inspired psychedelic rock and African & Latin rhythms.
Quirky melodies and otherworldly Indie pop from Nouveau Vélo as they played to a full house during their Converse Red Light Session at Amsterdam’s Butcher’s Tears.
Canada’s Viet Cong mix sharply-angled rhythms and euphoric ‘60s garage pop into stone-cold songs.
The former squat Dokzaal in the centre of Amsterdam was the place to be when Änimal performed at their Converse Red Light Session. The upcoming producer duo Änimal got special guests Iris van Lommerse on vocals and Lennart de Vries on drums to play their brand new track Pixelated Thoughts.
BIRTH OF JOY
Plenty of fuzz and energy as Dutch Blues Rockers Birth Of Joy made a stop at the Red Light Radio pop-up studio in Austin Texas during their 2014 USA tour.
Out of this world hip hop from experimental duo Shabazz Palaces. Playing Amsterdam for a packed Converse Red Light Session at Dokzaal. Palaceer Lazaro’s raps with Tendai “Baba” Maraire’s percussion took the crowd to another dimension.
We got cozy with Suuns at Amsterdam’s Red Light Radio studios for a Converse Red Light Session of dark, layered guitars and transfixing, electronic textures.
Nijmegens own dreampop 4-piece Mountain States came by at the small Red Light Radio studio in Amsterdam. They amazed people inside, but also caught red light district passers at the window.
MOON & SUN
The haunting, Caribbean influenced vibes of Moon & Sun perfectly matched the atmosphere inside Amsterdam’s ‘Waag’ as they performed ‘Hibernate’.
London’s Dark Sky descended upon Amsterdam with guest vocalist Cornelia to perform a dreamy & percussive version of their track ‘Vivid’ for their Converse Red Light Session.
Moon Duo landed in Amsterdam and captured all in cosmic hypnosis with ‘I Been Gone’ during this Converse Red Light Session inside the old city gates’ beautiful Theatrum Anatomicum.

Rising band from Amsterdam, Bird On The Wire play ‘Movements’ in their hypnotic and gloomy Converse Red Light Session.
Austin locals ThinkNoThink play hardrock exactly how it should sound at their Converse Red Light Session during SXSW 2014. This new track ‘Strange Truth’ is tight!
HAPPY JAWBONE FAMILY BAND
Vermont based psych pop collective Happy Jawbone Family Band joined us at our SXSW 2014 studio for a fun session and play “Dear Mr Hurricane”
Brooklyn based Puerto Rican electropsych group Buscabulla (Spanish slang for troublemaker) did a Converse Red Light Session at our SXSW 2014 studio. Hear an excellent live version of ‘Caer’.
Straight from NYC, rockers Dirty Fences ripped apart our SXSW 2014 pop-up studio with a rad attack of 70′s inspired punk in their Converse Red Light Session.
Psychedelic Rock from Twin Shades as they perform a Converse Red Light Session in Amsterdam’s Chicago Social Club.

Rad riffs and Fuzzy Dutch Garage rock from Mozes and The Firstborn as they visited the pop-up Red Light Radio booth at SXSW 2014 to perform a special Converse Red Light Session.
YOUNG & SICK
LA based Dutch artist Young & Sick teamed up with Kayleigh Goldsworthy for a really special acoustic version of Counting Raindrops at our SXSW studio.
Red Light Radio took over Amsterdam’s Chicago Social Club for 2 days during the London Calling 2014 Festival. Check out Menace Beach from Leeds playing their song Teenage Jesus.

THE SHADY GREYS
Lo-Fi rockers The Shady Greys do their Red Light Session, stopping passersby in their tracks. ‘Gimme Gimme’ is from their debut album ‘Let Her Go, Let Her Go, God Bless Her’.
It was packed at our studio when Mac DeMarco took over. An acoustic Converse Red Light Session with lots of songs from the new album Salad Days. This is “Treat Her Better”.
The Bohicas blowed us away with their Converse Red Light Session at Chicago Social Club during Paradiso’s London Calling Festival. XXX comes from their first single on Domino Records. Awesome track!
THE DELTA RIGGS
We took over the Chicago Social Club in Amsterdam for two days and hosted a London Calling 2014 Converse Red Light Sessions special. The Delta Riggs came and performed a short set for us, 100% Rock ‘n Roll from Melbourne Australia!
Jameszoo, the talented producer from Den Bosch Holland, has been making waves across genres and on several labels in the past few years. For his Converse Red Light Session he brought the young & acclaimed jazz pianist Gideon van Gelder to play alongside him for this live performance of his track “The Clumtwins”.
NOTHING perform an intensely loud version of ‘Bent Nail’ inside the Red Light Radio studio at CONVERSE FADER FORT in Austin Texas during SXSW 2014.
THE LOCAL SPASTICS
Red Light Radio took over the Chicago Social Club for 2 days during the London Calling Festival. The Local Spastics were the first band to turn this nightclub into a sweaty rock ‘n roll spot. Check out this Converse Red Light Session of “Freaks” from their new self titled album.
Before the Converse Fader Fort opened, The Shrine warmed up the Red Light Radio studio with a full on session. Worship! Coming from the 2nd album “Bless Off”.
James Pants paid a visit to the Red Light Radio studio for this Converse Red Light Session and wowed everyone with his performance of the excellent new track ‘Artificial Lover’.
Connan Mockasin delivered a psychedelic and spacey Converse Red Light Session at our pop-up studio at the SXSW 2014 Converse Fader Fort in Austin.
Psychedelic hip hoppers Young Fathers delivered an intense, high energy set to open the 2014 Converse Red Light Session series at the Red Light radio studio.
On 8th March Dutch indie pop band Naïve Set kicked off the 2014 series of Converse Red Light Sessions.
The psych rock quintet from Maine bought their hypnotic sound to the Red Light Studio at Converse Rubber Tracks in Brooklyn during CMJ festival September 2013.
During CMJ 2013, Brooklyn based punk band popped joined Red Light Radio in their pop-up studio at Rubber Tracks to perform this gritty version of “City Girl” for Red Light Sessions.
Unassuming Japanese Trio Nisennenmondai wowed fans by bringing their clangy, distorted and raw sound to Red Light Radio.
Boston trio Quilt stopped by Converse Rubber Tracks in 2013 to hang out with the Red Light Radio crew and perform a live version of “Arctic Shark”.
Queens rap supergroup Worlds Fair stopped by Converse Rubber Tracks for a Red Light Radio Session in 2013 performing their amazing party anthem Heathrow.
Slow Magic, the delightful sounding electronic artist swung by Converse Rubber Tracks in 2013 to play their track “Youth Group” for a Red Light Radio Session.
Zig Zags stopped by Converse Rubber Tracks in 2013 for a Red Light Radio session in the middle of festival season in NYC. The raucous LA three-piece performed their tune “Voices of the Paranoid.”
Dublin’s own Kid Karate stopped by at our Converse Rubber Tracks pop up studio in 2013 to perform live. Check out “Building,” a brand new track from the Irish pair.
Converse Make Noise winners “The Parrots” flew in to Amsterdam to record at the first European Rubber Tracks pop-up studio. While in town, they also found time to drop in to Red Light Radio and record this loud session for us.

Fresh from their day at our pop-up Rubber Tracks studio in Amsterdam, four piece Dutch band SNOWBURNER dropped in to Red Light Radio to record this hot and sweaty live session for us.
Inspired by the pioneering pro-punk played by their dads in Death in the 70s, Rough Francis were born to continue that legacy. They joined a re-formed Death in Red Light Radio’s pop-up studio in the Fader Fort in Austin, Texas in 2013. The track is called “Black & Red”.
Formed in Detroit, Michigan in the early seventies, Death was a heavy rock band that “was punk before punk was punk”. Although they stopped recording in the late seventies, they recently reformed after one their sons found the records in the attic (those same sons went on to form Rough Francis). We were lucky enough to have them drop in to see Red Light Radio at our pop up studio in Austin, Texas in 2013.
Idiot Glee dropped in to Red Light Radio’s pop-up studio in the Fader Fort in Austin, Texas in 2013 to perform this lovely version of Don’t Go Out Tonight.
Converse Rubber Tracks veterans Heliotropes stopped by Red Light Radio’s pop-up studio in Austin, Texas to record this version of Early in the Morning.
All the way from the Netherlands, Traumahelikopter reunited with Red Light Radio in Austin, Texas in 2013 to perform this live version of “Infected”.

Himanshu Suri aka Heems, from alternative hip-hop group Das Racist, joined us at Red Light Radio’s studio in the heart of Amsterdam’s red light district to record the very first of our new live Red Light Sessions. Check it out.
Indian pioneer of electronic music Charanjit Singh played his legendary 1982 album “Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat” live to Western audiences for the first time ever. Using his original Roland TB-303, TR-808 and Jupiter-8 synthesizers, Singh stopped off in Amsterdam to record this very special Red Light Session for us.
